Head for the Exeter junction at the western
end of the M5. Then follow the A30 for Okehampton and the west. Shortly after you
pass Launceston leave the A30 at the Kennard’s House junction. Then take the A395
to Davidstow. Turn left on the A39 then almost immediately right onto the B3314.
This will bring you down through Slaughterbridge and up to a crossroads with the
B3266. Continue straight over, through Delabole and Pendoggett. You will then see
St Endellion’s famous church tower on the skyline. During festivals there is a car
park just past the church on the left.
By car from the West of England.
Make for the A30 then follow it eastwards until the
top of the steep hill above Indian Queens where the road briefly has three lanes.
Turn off onto the A39 and follow the road past St Columb Major and Wadebridge. Shortly
after crossing the Wadebridge viaduct you’ll arrive at a roundabout. Here you have
a choice. A) Those happy with narrow, scenic lanes can continue on the A39 towards
Camelford then take the sharp left hand turning besides the entrance to St Kew Golf
Club and signposted St Endellion. Follow the winding lane all the way down into the
valley and up the other side. You will, quite suddenly, find St Endellion church
directly in front of you. The car park is immediately to your left, off the main
road. B) More nervous drivers or larger vehicles should take the last exit off the
roundabout, as if for Wadebridge then take the last exit, to the right, off the mini
roundabout that soon follows. This is the B3314. Ignore turnings off to St Minver,
Polzeath and Port Quin. At the Port Quin turning the B3314 veers sharply to the right
and will soon bring you to St Endellion, whose famous church tower you will suddenly
see directly ahead of you. The car park is on your right just before the church.
